Image: Asking for Nothingness by Navin Rawanchaikul at National Gallery Singapore. Taken by Rittergut & Runnymede

Navin Rawanchaikul is an artist born in Thailand we came across in Singapore in 2018. The image shows the installation Asking for Nothingness, part of the Collection of the National Gallery Singapore. The seemingly empty old medical bottles, 11,000 in total, are filled with photographs of anonymous elderly. Their individual postures, facial expressions and background tell their stories. The medical bottles preserve these stories whilst reminding us to honour their value to our society, culture and the education of the younger generations.
