Overlooking the Oosterdok of Amsterdam, you can find the studio of Maarten Vrolijk. We had to go and see him when we were on tour in the city.
Maarten’s studio is so bright and filled with natural daylight. Rarely can you see his stunning works of art in this type of light. These were also some very special pieces we were allowed to see before being sent off to a new home. The pieces were more transparent than some of Maarten’s other works and incredibly 3-dimensional. The sunlight seemed to reflect from an infinite amount of layers of glass, some more opaque than others, some offering a distorted view to the colourful layers lying behind them. Thank you for allowing us to see these pieces, Maarten. And thank you for the great exchange about passion and ideas.
