The Magma collection is inspired by the rare beauty of native silver nuggets and is created through a meticulous and delicate process that involves several firing cycles. Each piece is carefully shaped by flame, allowing the metal to flow organically, resulting in unique designs that capture the natural essence of molten metal.
Designed and crafted by Miles Rice, a celebrated artisan renowned for his deep appreciation of materials and his effortless ability to switch between different crafts, the collection embodies a philosophy inspired by George Nakashima. Like Nakashima, Miles works with the material, letting its natural properties guide the design in its purest form, rather than imposing a predetermined shape. His works have been exhibited at prestigious venues such as Rolls Royce London, Grosvenor House, and the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour.
This jewellery collection, produced in Miles’ design studio, Rittergut & Runnymede, not only celebrates the elements of fire and metal but also connects with the heritage of craftsmanship at the estate where the studio is located. Based at Rittergut Schönberg in Germany, an ancient knightly estate with a rich history, the brand draws on the skills of artisans who once worked there—linen weavers, wheelwrights, and more—incorporating this legacy into their designs. It also supports initiatives by The ARCH, dedicated to preserving and revitalising rare craft traditions worldwide.
